Kia ora whanau,  We hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend enjoying this gorgeous summer weather! It is hard to believe that there are only three weeks of the term left! Looking back at what was going on this time last year, it was jam packed with lots of activity. Unfortunately many activities have had to be cancelled this year due to COVID and many more will also need to be cancelled. We are currently trying to figure out how our end of year celebrations, such as prize giving and Mass, will be able to be held. These will need to fit the new traffic light system. We will keep you updated when we know when we finalise these arrangements. School Magazine We are publishing a school magazine again this year, and this will be available during the last week of this term. At this stage there are only to be 100 magazines printed. It will be a great memento of 2021. Orders are taken now with the cost for the magazine being $10.00. School Library Our school library is now closed for a stock

Kia Ora everyone, The term seems to be flying by and we have already arrived at Week 6. It has been very busy over the past week. We had the "Making a Difference" swimming programme running last week and the kids gained some new swimming skills. This week is again Kahikatea's week for swimming. We will be swimming every day . Please ensure your child brings in their togs and towel. If they cannot swim it is important that they bring in a notice explaining this. We have finally completed our assessments to help us make an informed judgement for our student reports. Now that these are done we can finally start having a little bit of fun in the classroom. Aloha parents and whānau, welcome to week 5 Last week was a week that was full of emotions. I want to send my sincerest apologies for delivering the news about my departure in a way where you felt like you should have been informed first. To be honest, I was not given any guidelines as to what the appropriate process was, but do know that I felt that your child was the most important person who needed to know first, as they would have had the biggest impact. Please be assured that we have found a teacher/s to fill in my place till the end of the term. They have also worked with our children. Mr Macmillan will send out a notification out tomorrow regarding this. I have definitely felt the love and support from everyone over the past few days. The children along with some of the Middle School teachers put on a surprise shared lunch and tears flowed again as they performed a Haka for me and a beautiful waiata. It breaks my heart to know that I have to finish my year without my awesome kid

Warm and joyful greetings to you all as I write this post admiring the beautiful sunny weather we are having this Sunday morning. We would like to express our gratitude to all families that helped and supported our school with the working bee yesterday. It was a very successful day with such a great turnout. Plenty of jobs were completed. Thank you once again for your extra helping hands. It is great to see manaakitanga ( kindness) and kotahitanga ( unity) in action at our school.  Talofa awesome parents. This term, Sustainability is the concept that the children's learning will be based around. We are very lucky to learn about terrariums.  Terrariums are miniature gardens, housed inside small – and usually sealable – containers like bottles and jars. As fully functioning (albeit tiny) plant ecosystems, they’re mostly self-sustaining, with the plants watering themselves through transpiration and condensation. Science! Our request is for any clear  plastic or glass jars at home that you are happy to dispose of. We will be creating our own terrariums. Please start sending in your jars or plastic containers in as soon as you can.  The plants that we would like to put into our terrariums: succulents, moss. If you have an abundance of these at home, we would appreciate some donations too please.  Thanks.
